But their original plan hit a major roadblock—switchgear manufacturers were quoting lead times of 14 to 18 months. This delay threatened to derail their entire project and significantly impact their operations.

we feel your rush, and we delivered. Understanding the urgency, we worked with them to design a custom plan that didn’t rely on long-lead-time equipment. The project required a 12.47 kV incoming feed, a 3000-amp 480V main circuit breaker, four 1600-amp feeder breakers, and a high-voltage disconnect switch—all housed in NEMA 3R outdoor walk-in enclosures. The equipment had to integrate modern relay protection and solid-state trip devices, maintaining high standards of reliability and safety.
Instead of waiting on new equipment, we took a different approach. By using the client’s existing transformer and incorporating refurbished components, CAMCO crafted a solution that would meet their needs much faster. We sourced refurbished ITE switchgear enclosures with K3000 and K1600 circuit breakers, along with a Westinghouse high-voltage switch, all housed in custom-fabricated NEMA 3R enclosures. To tie everything together, we designed and fabricated custom copper bus work.
Thanks to this strategy, CAMCO was able to deliver the complete assembly in just eight months—50% faster than the alternatives they had originally considered.
